FLORIDA CAR BUYERS — KNOW YOUR RIGHTS (AND LIMITS)!

For those in the market now.

Thinking you have 72 hours to cancel your car purchase or lease in Florida? Think again.

In Florida, there is no 72-hour “cooling off” or rescission period when you buy or lease a vehicle from a dealership. Once you sign the contract, it is legally binding — there is no backing out just because you changed your mind.

The 72-hour rule only applies to certain door-to-door sales — not dealership transactions.

Before you sign:

• Ask questions
• Read everything carefully
• Never assume you can “just cancel later”
• Never accept dealer off-the-cuff comments or dealer puffing as true and binding, unless they are expressly stated in the written documents.

If you feel pressured, walk away before signing — not after.
